On Christmas Eve our neighbour, Malcolm, rang to say "Quick! Look out the back!~ Chrisrtmas Dinner is walking up and down!"
When we looked, there was a Brush Turkey.
"Terry the Turkey" ended up staying a few months and finally disappeared in May.
We later discovered "he" was a "she". She appeared every morning and evening, helping herself to our tomatoes and whatever else she could find.
Brush Turkeys are notorious for making an awful mess and for the enormous mounds they build to incubate their eggs - but we didn't have either of those problems.
